Portrait of a Ballerina | Kayla

The extra curricular activities that I participated in growing up were ballet and piano. Of the two, I much preferred ballet. It was a very happy day when I earned my pointe shoes. I practiced my pointe work at home in the kitchen, using the counter as a makeshift barre. The pressure applied to the floor from being on pointe left little divets on the lineoleum floor, much to my mother's chagrin.

I eventually understood that my path in life would not pirouette from the ballet studio to a theatrical stage as a professionally performing ballerina. I am grateful for my years in ballet which trained me to walk silently in bare feet and to help accentuate my words with ballet hands.

I still carry my love for ballet with me. My daughter and I have enjoyed many performances of Ballet Arizona including Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet and The Nutcracker.

One of my goals is to attract more dancers to my studio. My desire is to work collaboratively with dancers to capture proper poses and form with the goal of producing gorgeous fine art portraits. I want to capture your beautiful artistry and athleticism in images that will last a lifetime and beyond.
